Privacy Policy

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We never receive your Google password.

Profiles and viewing activity. The viewing profiles you create (name, avatar and whether it is a kids profile), what you watch and where you stopped, titles you add to My List, reminders you set and titles you rate.

Age confirmation. To open the 18+ Vault you enter a date of birth. We use it only to check that you are 18 or older. We store the fact that the profile was verified and when, not the date of birth itself.

Messages. If you contact us, we keep your name, email address, topic and message so we can reply.

Notifications. If you turn on alerts, we store a notification token for your device so we can tell you about new releases.

Technical information. Our service providers process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and device information to deliver the service, keep it secure and prevent abuse. While you watch Live TV, your player reports that it is open so we can count how many people are watching.

• To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
• To run the service: keep your profiles, resume where you left off, show your list and recommendations, and enforce the kids and 18+ settings.
• To send service emails, such as a welcome email and replies to your messages, and release alerts you have turned on.
• To understand which titles are popular, for example to rank Trending titles.
• To protect TREEZ, our members and our content from fraud, abuse and misuse.
• To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.

If you sign in with Google, we use the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us only to create your TREEZ account, sign you in and personalise your profile. We do not use this information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below that help us run TREEZ. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf to run TREEZ:

• Clerk, for sign-in and account security.
• Convex, which stores our database, including your profiles and viewing activity.
• Cloudflare, which hosts the website and stores uploaded media.
• Mux, which delivers some of our video.
• Resend, which sends our emails.
• Google Firebase, which delivers notifications if you turn them on.

Live TV channels play in YouTube’s official player. When you watch Live TV, YouTube receives information as described in the Google Privacy Policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of TREEZ and our members.

Our service providers may store and process information outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. We rely on them to protect it to the standards required by applicable law.

We use cookies to keep you signed in and secure. We also store small preferences in your browser, such as your chosen profile, player settings and subtitle style. We do not use cookies for advertising.

We keep your account information and viewing activity for as long as your account is open. When you delete a profile, its list, ratings and viewing history are deleted with it. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your information unless we must keep some of it to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.

TREEZ accounts are for adults. A parent or guardian may create kids profiles for their children within their own account, and those profiles only show kid-safe titles. We do not knowingly let children create their own accounts. If you believe a child has done so, contact us and we will delete the account.

You can update your profiles at any time, remove titles from your lists and turn notifications off. Depending on where you live, including under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to how we use it. We use encrypted connections, access controls and reputable service providers to protect your information. No service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep it private.

We may update this policy as TREEZ changes. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date, and tell you about significant changes by email or in the app.
